3,500 lucky souls live in Idyllwild, the ‘Yosemite of the Southern California.’ They're not the first to venture up the hill from the sometimes chaotic realm of the Los Angeles basin. Even in the late 1800's folks needed to seek the serenity of nature by hiking up to the mountains of San Jacinto. They began building rustic shelters, and by the 1920's the little village had some pretty interesting cabins. Those cabins have been lovingly maintained all these years. As each new generation finds their way to 'The Hill', they add their own special charm and vision to the enchanted village.

I'm one of the lucky souls who get to live in Idyllwild. I take pictures because the houses are so interesting, historical, and utterly unique. I found a way to digitize the photos to enhance color and add a little artistic flair. The photos have just been published on the internet.
